How to replace the right rear parking brake cable on 2007 GMC Savana 3500?

Begin replacement of the right side parking brake rear cable by first releasing the engagement of the parking brake while disabling the automatic adjuster of the cable. First raise the vehicle before disconnecting the cable from the equalizer at its installation location. Both cargo and passenger vehicle cables require depression of locking tabs to remove them from the Rear Crossmember and cutaway vehicle cables need to be removed from their mounting bracket in an identical fashion. To remove the 1500 series cable the technician should pass it through the cable guide after disconnecting the rear axle vent hose clip from the cable. Use caution when you open the clip which secures the rear axle then take out the cable from the differential clip. The cable must be disconnected from the lower shock mount by eliminating the bolt. Cable removal from the backing plate starts with spring compression to its lever while pressing down on the locking tabs followed by pulling out cable housing through the plate slot. The park brake cable needs removal from the lever before pulling the cable out of the vehicle. The cable installation process begins with connecting it to both the vehicle system then proceeding to link it with the lever. To mount the cable to the backing plate start by compressing the spring under the lever pressure and feed cable through the plate slot and press cable housing onto the backing plate until locking tabs lock themselves. Fasten the cable retaining bolt to its location on the lower shock mount while tightening it to 13 n.m (115 lb in). After installing the cable to the differential clip you must attach the rear axle vent hose clip to the cable (1500 Series) before passing the cable through the cable guide. Cutaway vehicles require the cable installation on the mounting bracket until locking tabs engage while passenger and cargo vehicles need cable attachment to the Rear Crossmember using the same method. Fit the cable to the equalizer then remove safety stands while lowering the vehicle and use the park brake cable automatic adjuster to set its correct tension.
