Q: How to replace the Power Steering Hose Inlet on 2008 Buick Enclave?
A: The right side Catalytic Converter should be uninstalled as the first step for power steering gear inlet pipe/hose replacement. The procedure begins by draining most power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir before setting drain pans underneath the vehicle. First disconnect the outlet hose from the Power Steering Pump at the fluid reservoir outlet while unclipping it from the power steering gear inlet hose bracket. The power steering gear inlet hose bracket requires removal of its bolt and nut before disconnecting the hose from the steering pump. Before accessing the power steering gear inlet hose you need to remove the retaining plate bolt and outlet and inlet pipe clip bolt under the vehicle. Remove the inlet hose from its position below the vehicle. The installation requires hand-tightening of all parts initially before torqueing to specified values. From below the vehicle install the power steering gear inlet hose so its end enters the steering gear while using a retaining plate bolt which should achieve 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque and a clip bolt which should reach 8 n.m (71 lb in). The Power Steering Pump should receive the power steering gear inlet hose while also installing the hose bracket with bolt torque set to 8 n.m (71 lb in) and bracket nut torque set to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Use the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose to connect with the Power Steering Pump before attaching it to the power steering gear inlet hose bracket. After cleaning all extra fluid the operators need to re-install the right side Catalytic Converter. You must complete power steering system filling and bleeding as the final step.
