The shift lever seal should slide up the shift lever shaft. Steering column trim covers must be removed if needed. To replace the shift lever first disconnect the base of the column connector and then unscrew the shift lever screw attached to the shift lever assembly. Gently pull out the shift lever along with its seal from the linear shift assembly by sliding the seal towards its thin part on the shift lever. Start by inserting the shift lever seal onto the shift lever assembly before installing the assembly onto linear shift assembly. The shift lever screw requires installation into the shift lever assembly before tightening it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The shift lever seal should be slid downward along the shift lever assembly until it reaches the position of the steering column trim covers. The next step is to install the steering column trim covers and finally enable sir system after completion.
