You should first take off the lock nut from the outer tie rod before you start loosening the jam nut on the inner tie rod. The universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) should be used to detach the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle which will allow you to separate the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod . Installation involves joining the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod without jam nut tightening before attaching the outer tie rod to its place on the Steering Knuckle . After starting with the outer tie rod lock nut installation, apply torque of 30 n.m (22 lb ft) following up with an extra 180 degrees of nut tightening.
