2008 Cadillac DTS Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2008 Cadillac DTS?
A: The replacement process starts with draining engine oil from the entire system. Start by taking out the front exhaust manifold pipe. To start the replacement work disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the oil level sensor and loosened the Oil Pan bolts before removing the Oil Pan. Discard the existing Oil Pan Gasket during these steps. The Oil Pan needs both cleaning and an inspection. During installation apply rtv sealant into the Oil Pan seal groove taking care for it to extend above the Oil Pan sealing surface by 3 mm (0.118 in). Each en 46109 (EN 46109) should be placed into the lower crankcase bolt hole slots to stop shifting. Begin the installation by placing the Oil Pan against the lower crankcase then apply light strain to the Oil Pan bolts. First start by tightening the bolts to 8 n.m (71 lb in) followed by final tightening to 12 n.m (106 lb in). After restoring power to the oil level sensor with its engine harness electrical connector reconnect the front exhaust manifold pipe by filling the engine with oil.
