2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV Muffler Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the muffler equipped with RPO L92 (6.2L) on 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV?
A: Replacing a Muffler on rpo l92 (6.2L)-equipped vehicles starts with taking off the wheel and tire from the right rear position. The right rear Wheel Speed Sensor wiring harness electrical connector must be disconnected from the chassis wiring harness electrical connector while removing the right rear Shock Absorber along with its attached air line may require chassis wiring harness connector separation. Detach the frame-mounted electrical clip from the right rear Wheel Speed Sensor wiring harness while keeping the rear suspension sensor link rod steady on its rear position sensor ball stud. You should first detach the right rear automatic level control sensor link rod from the sensor and then hold the sensor lever while twisting the ball on the link rod to disconnect it. Apply an adjustable jack support under the rear axle before you remove the right axle tie rod bolt along with the associated nut, the rear axle vent hose, the vent hose swivel clip from the rear brake crossover pipe, the right rear stabilizer shaft link to frame bolt with its accompanying nut, and finally the right rear Shock Absorber lower bolt with its matching nut. Lower the right rear axle until the Muffler becomes free to detach from the Catalytic Converter while the hanger separates. The insulators in a yukon denali or escalade should receive lubrication for simpler removal procedures. With aid, technicians should extract each insulator from exhaust system hangers (4, and 5) and the resonator hanger. When working on yukon xl, yukon denali xl, escalade esv, or escalade ext vehicles perform insulator lubrication followed by hanger removal for components 3, 4 and 5 and the resonator hanger. When removing the flex coupler users must avoid stretching it beyond its limits to prevent internal damage from occurring. Apply new lubrication to the insulators when necessary before your team inserts the Muffler assembly together with the insulators into the exhaust system hangers (3, 4, and 5) and the resonator hanger. Screw the Muffler onto Catalytic Converter nuts while tightening them to 45 n.m and mount the insulator to its hanger. Use the adjustable jack to raise the rear axle frame into position and install the right rear Shock Absorber's lower bolt followed by its nut and tighten both the components to 95 n.m (70 lb ft). Next install the right rear stabilizer shaft link to frame then its bolt and its nut with a torque setting of 65 n.m (48 lb ft). Position the right rear axle tie rod bolt and accompanying nut. Torque them both to 105 n.m (77lb ft). Next, reinstall the rear axle vent hose and its swivel clip if needed. While using j 38185 hose clamp pliers (J 38185) install right rear link rod to ball studs on sensors making sure rear axle wiring harness clip remains properly located. After attaching the right rear Wheel Speed Sensor wiring harness clips to the frame and Control Arm Bracket position the right rear Wheel Speed Sensor wiring harness electrical connector clip to the frame then reconnect any previously disconnected electrical connectors before reinstalling the right rear wheel and tire.
