- Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on a left-hand drive on 2008 Cadillac SRX?A: Repairs of the battery positive cable on left-hand drive vehicles begin with disconnecting the negative battery cable. The positive battery cable bolt needs loosening until the cable can be pulled free from its battery connection. First open the bussed electrical center (BEC) terminal cover before taking off the positive battery cable nut and positive battery cable from the BEC stud. After raising and supporting the vehicle position the positive battery cable boot on the generator output BAT terminal then use a wrench to remove the generator output BAT terminal nut so it can disconnect the battery positive cable. Take off the transmission bellhousing bolt followed by relocating the bellhousing positive cable clip. The starter terminal nut should be removed after which the positive cable on the battery must be separated from the starter so the vehicle can be lowered. Vacate the positive battery cable clips from their mounts on the radiator outlet pipe brackets followed by removing the positive battery cable from all vehicle connections. Start by mounting the positive battery cable onto the vehicle and trailing the positive battery cable clips through the radiator outlet pipe brackets for attachment. After raising the vehicle reinstall the battery positive cable onto the starter while using a starter terminal nut to secure it properly at 10 N.m (89 lb in). Fasten the transmission lower bellhousing bolt alongside the bellhousing and tighten it to 50 N.m (37 lb ft). Position the battery positive cable onto the generator followed by securing it with the generator output BAT terminal nut while torquing to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Position the positive battery cable boot at the generator output BAT terminal before lowering the vehicle to install the positive battery cable at the BEC stud by twisting the positive battery cable nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). The BEC terminal cover should be closed after positioning your positive battery cable at the battery and torquing the positive battery cable bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft). Secure the negative battery cable as the last installation step.
