How to replace the exhaust heat shield on 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt?

Before the installation of a new Exhaust Heat Shield requires removal of the Catalytic Converter fitted with rpo le5 or rpo l61. Detach the muffler pipe forward insulators from the underbody hangers while simultaneously supporting the muffler pipe. Start by taking out the heat shield nut before drilling the heat shield rivets to extract the heat shield. Position the Exhaust Heat Shield on top of the underbody before you can install the heat shield nut which must be secured at 10 n.m (89 lb in). You should first install new heat shield rivets and then remove the support system from the muffler pipe before installing the muffler pipe forward insulators back to their underbody hangers. Put back the Catalytic Converter under both conditions (RPO LE5 and RPO L61).
