2008 Chevrolet Corvette Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Disconnec the negative cable of the battery first if you want to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder. Take out the left instrument panel lower insulator panel then remove the Clutch Master Cylinder rod retainer and the Clutch Master Cylinder rod in/out off the clutch pedal. Then take out the wind washer solvent container and raise the vehicle to a suitable height. Remove the retaining clip from the Clutch Hose connection to the hose retaining clip under the Brake Master Cylinder, then remove the retaining clip from the Clutch Hose connection and disconnect the Clutch Hose from the side to master cylinder, protecting the ends of the couplings from dirt and abrasion. Lower the vehicle but do not take off the hoist before removing the Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir from the reservoir bracket and turn the Clutch Master Cylinder 45 degrees off the dash panel then remove the Clutch Master Cylinder with its reservoir from the vehicle. For installation, mounting the Clutch Master Cylinder and reservoir in a 45-degree inclination until it is fixed on to the dash panel without over rotation. This is the time to reattach Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir to the reservoir bracket and the windshield washer solvent container. Lift the vehicle once more and fit the Clutch Hose connection retaining clip, while ensuring that the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fittings are well fitted together and therefore with a pull that confirms the position. Inspect for twists or kinks in the clutch hydraulic hoses, and then install the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the hose retaining clip underneath the Brake Master Cylinder. Lower the vehicle arm, mount the Clutch Master Cylinder rod onto the clutch pedal, and fasten the Clutch Master Cylinder rod retainer. Install the left instrument panel lower insulator panel and attach the negative cable, tightening the bolt to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Lastly, set the program of the transmitters and bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
