2008 Chevrolet Express 2500 Fuel Filler Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the LH Fuel Filler Hose without the door on 2008 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: The first step to replacing a fuel tank filler pipe without the lh door involves cleaning all connections between the fuel pipe and hose and the adjacent surfaces to avoid contaminating the fuel system. The first step is to remove the fuel filler cap followed by draining the fuel until it reaches below the fuel tank fill hose's position. The next step requires you to dissolve both bolts and push-pin holding the filler neck to the body while elevating the vehicle. Before continuing disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel fill pipe by loosening its clamp then remove the fuel filler tube ground strap bolt. The installation process begins by taking away the fuel fill pipe assembly. During maintenance install the fuel fill pipe to the fuel fill hose with proper alignment to the fuel fill pipe housing before tightening the clamp to 2.75 n.m (24 lb in). Put back the fuel filler tube ground strap bolt with 8 n.m torque force (70 lb in torque) before lowering the vehicle. The last steps include installing both fuel fill pipe housing bolts and push-pin then applying a torque of 6 n.m (53 lb in) while refilling the fuel tank before reinstalling the fuel filler cap.
