2008 Chevrolet Express 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2008 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: Engine coolant draining starts the Heater Core replacement process. The replacement process begins with removing the A/C Accumulator and engine cover and right knee bolster bracket together with the cowl drain tube bolts and the cowl drain tube. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) should be used to uninstall the hose clamps before you detach the Heater Core inlet and outlet heater hoses. After separating the right hinge pillar trim users should disconnect the ground lead harness connector with bracket at the same pillar and detach the radio antenna lead-in cable. The first step includes removing the heater outlet duct from the left side of the heater case followed by repositioning the wire harness before you extract the screws from the heater assembly. Opening the Heater Core access door should begin with a cautious approach followed by cutting the marked section before removing the access door including its retainers from the Heater Core. The installation process requires fitting the new Heater Core along with its retainers followed by screw tightening to 1.9 n.m (17 lb in). Follow the Heater Core access door installation by tightening its screws at 1.9 n.m (17 lb in). Reposition the wire harness followed by heater outlet duct installation then connect the antenna lead-in cable and put back the harness connector and bracket, ground lead and hinge pillar trim. Before installing the Heater Core apply hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to secure inlet and outlet heater hoses while reinstalling the cowl drain tube and bolts and right knee bolster bracket and engine cover and A/C Accumulator. Finally, fill the engine coolant.
