    A: Vehicle support and vehicle elevation are necessary before starting replacement of the Rack And Pinion outer Tie Rod End. Take the wheel with its tire completely off the vehicle first. Start by removing the prevailing torque nut from the outer tie rod assembly after which you need to loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod assembly . Driving a wedge between steering linkage joint and attached part leads to seal damage and early failure of the joint thus it should be avoided. The universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) must be used to detach the outer tie rod assembly from the Steering Knuckle then inner tie rod assembly from outer tie rod assembly. Install the outer tie rod assembly to the inner tie rod assembly without screwing in the jam nut during this step. To install the outer tie rodassembly on the Steering Knuckle connect it first and then fasten the prevailing torque nut onto the assembly and tighten it to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) while adjusting the torque to 120 degrees such that 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 threads extend beyond the nylon washer. Reinstall the tire along with the wheel assembly afterward followed by lowering the vehicle and performing a front end alignment.
