2008 Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: The first step to replace the Fuel Rail assembly requires draining the fuel system pressure. You should first remove the air cleaner outlet resonator while disconnecting the quick connect fitting of the fuel feed line from the Fuel Rail. The engine wiring harness electrical connector requires detachment from the electronic throttle control (ETC). Additionally, the engine wiring harness clips require removal from the Fuel Rail tabs. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Fuel Injector harness wiring electrical connector and then take off the Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connector rosebud clip from the Intake Manifold. The procedure begins with Fuel Rail bolt removal while watching out for Fuel Injector spray tips then gently pulling the Fuel Rail backwardwards to free up the devices at cylinder head ports before pulling out the rail entirely. The first step includes discarding 4 Fuel Injector tip insulators followed by unhooking Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connectors from the fuel injectors and unclipping Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connector from the Fuel Rail. The technician should detach the fuel injectors when required. The procedure requires new lower o-rings when installing a Fuel Rail and injectors which were both removed and reinstalled or when replacing the Fuel Rail necessitates new upper and lower o-rings installation. Start by fitting the fuel injectors into place and then use the Fuel Injector wiring harness clips to connect them to the Fuel Rail before finalizing the connection of electrical connectors into the fuel injectors. Clean engine oil must be applied to the new Fuel Injector tip insulators before installing them to the cylinder head. Start by applying clean engine oil to the Fuel Injector o-rings. Next lower the fuel injectors down into the cylinder ports while gently applying pressure to the rail using a toolbox in order to install the injectors. Secure the Fuel Rail bolts with 10 n.m torque while also using 89 lb in. The engine wiring harness electrical connector needs to connect to the Fuel Injector harness wiring electrical connector while the Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connector rosebud clip must attach to the Intake Manifold followed by the engine harness clips being installed to the Fuel Rail tabs. Last of all the sequence involves hooking up the etc to engine wiring harness and attaching the fuel feed line quick connect fitting to the Fuel Rail followed by air cleaner outlet resonator installation.
