  • Q: How to replace the radiator on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?
    A: To have your Radiator (L61) replaced first drain the coolant, and also remove the left and right headlamps. Put a rope around the two tabs of the condenser and tie it to the upper tie bar, then butt the upper Radiator support bracket bolt and the upper Radiator support brackets. Move the Radiator outlet hose clamp from the Radiator using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) and lay off the Radiator outlet hose, after which you can experience the Radiator inlet hose clamp by using the former tool, and lay it off again. Lift the vehicle and take off the lower Radiator air deflector retainers and deflector and remove the right front fender liner along with the right and left Radiator air deflectors and retainers. Put a drain under the transmission oil cooler pipes, take off the attachment nut from the transmission, and then the pipes. Then, get rid of the lower Radiator support bracket bolts and brackets and lower mounts on the Radiator. Remove the condenser mounting bolts and unsnap the condenser mounting tabs from the Radiator clips and then the condenser mounting nuts and the Radiator air side seals all need to be removed and discarded. Pull off the Radiator, cooling Fan Shroud, and transmission oil cooler pipe assembly, base then pry up on the Fan Shroud tabs to disengage the cooling fan and shroud from the Radiator. For installation, clips the cooling fan and shroud assembly to the Radiator, snap tabs in clips and install the transmission oil cooler pipes. Install the Radiator, cooling Fan Shroud, and transmission oil cooler pipe assembly and install the Radiator air side seals to the condenser mounting tabs. Mount the condenser using the special length bolts only to 6 n.m (53 lb in) and make sure that Radiator air side seals are properly placed. Remove and replace the Radiator lower mounts as a pair, fit the lower Radiator support brackets and bolts and tighten them to 60 n.m (44 lb ft). Reattach the transmission oil cooler pipes and the pipes attachment nut and tighten it to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Mount the left and right Radiator air deflectors and corresponding retainers, right front fender liner, lower Radiator air deflector, retainers. Lower the vehicle and mount Radiator inlet and outlet hoses, adjusting their clamps with hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Lower the condenser assembly onto the vehicle and align it with the upper tie bar and Radiator support.jack up the Radiator area until aligning with the lower bracket bolt holes across from the Radiator lower bracket bolts, bolt the lower Radiator support brackets to the vehicle, then bolt the Radiator lower bracket bolts to 33 n.m (30 lb ft). Finally, replace the right and left headlamps, refill the coolant, and check the amount of transmission fluid.
