How to replace the steering linkage inner tie rod on 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The first step for inner Tie Rod replacement involves removing the steering gear boot followed by inspecting the Tie Rod for corrosion or contamination. If contamination exists one should replace the complete steering gear. Begin by using a pipe wrench on the steering gear rack which is adjacent to the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing and adding a wrench to the flats of the inner Tie Rod housing . You must turn the housing downwards while maintaining a secure position of the steering gear rack to remove the inner Tie Rod from the rack. All steering gear inner Tie Rod threads must be cleaned before installation while using loctite(R) 262 as a thread lubricant. Use a pipe wrench on the rack surface near the housing to tighten the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing all the way to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Install the steering gear boot as the last step.
