2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on a 6.0L engine on 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: The first step for a 6.0l Intake Manifold replacement begins with negative Battery Cable removal. Use the fuel system pressure relieving tool ch 48027 to depressurize the system. Disconnect the wires connecting the a/c compressor pressure switch and maf/iat sensor to the electronic throttle control and main Ignition Coil and fuel injectors and generator and MAP Sensor and evap canister purge solenoid valve. Take off the positive crankcase ventilation hose and the evap purge solenoid vent tubes. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe that connects to the Fuel Rail then relocate the brake booster hose clamp before taking off the brake booster hose. Uninstall the engine wire harness retainer nut before repositioning the upper engine wire harness. The generator moves into position after removing the Drive Belt and right generator bolt and gentle loosening of the left generator bolt. Extract the 512 Intake Manifold bolts followed by removing the Intake Manifold and 514 Intake Manifold gaskets while trashing the old gaskets. Perform a complete inspection along with cleaning operations on the Intake Manifold when needed. Begin the installation by fitting new Intake Manifold gaskets (514) to the Intake Manifold before setting the manifold in its place. The Intake Manifold bolts (512) receive 5 mm (0.2 in) threadlock before installation by following a sequential tightening pattern to 5 n.m (44 lb in) first and 10 n.m (89 lb in) for the final stage. Replace the generator before tightening its left bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reinstall the Drive Belt while you route the electrical harness before installing the engine harness bracket nut with a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reassemble the vacuum brake booster hose while tightening its clamp followed by reattachment of the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail before installing evap purge solenoid vent tubes. Restore the pcv hose while establishing a correct connection sequence between engine wiring harness connectors and MAP Sensor along with evap canister purge solenoid valve and generator and main Ignition Coil and fuel injectors. Label connectors to prevent wrong reconnection. The maf/iat sensor with the a/c compressor pressure switch need connection before installing the fuel fill cap and reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Testing for fuel leaks requires a two-second ignition on followed by a ten-second ignition off before continuing to check for any signs of leakage.
