2008 GMC Acadia Oil Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2008 GMC Acadia?
A: The starting point to replace the Oil Pan requires the battery negative cable's removal. Lift your vehicle into position before supporting it. Start by draining engine oil followed by removing the Oil Filter and the exhaust flexible pipe alongside the air conditioning compressor. Begin by removing Oil Pan bolts followed by Oil Pan removal. Be sure to clean the engine block surface of the removed gasket. For installation use the en 46109 guide pin set (EN 46109) to place 8 mm guides into the center Oil Pan rail bolt hole found on each side of the engine block. Use 3 mm rtv sealant, gm p/n 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent to coat the block pan rail and crankshaft rear oil seal housing while you mount the Oil Pan onto the block before removing the guides. Begin Oil Pan bolt installation by loosely hand-tightening the bolts followed by a torque procedure where 8 mm bolts (1-11) receive 23 n.m (17 lb ft) then the 6 mm bolts (12, 13) attain 10 n.m (89 lb in). Apply these torques in a predefined sequence. After reattaching the A/C Compressor along with the exhaust flexible pipe you should lower the vehicle and refill engine oil before reinstalling the battery negative cable. Use the j 39505 torque wrench adapter (J 39505) as required whenever tightening tasks occur.
