2008 GMC Envoy Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in an A/C system on 2008 GMC Envoy?
A: The replacement procedure for a accumulator should start by removing the refrigerant through recovery steps. First remove the a/c pressure switch connector from the electrical port before taking out the a/c low pressure switch. Start by dismounting the nut which keeps the accumulator in place to the Evaporator and unfasten the compressor suction hose assembly from the accumulator. The vehicle should be without its accumulator before you discard both o-ring seals and separate the accumulator clamp nut. The new accumulator needs an addition of refrigerant oil before installation. Install the accumulator into its vehicle position before placing it into the accumulator clamp and fasten the accumulator clamp nut while tightening it to 10 n.m (88 lb in). Following a/c low pressure switch installation the technician should tighten it to 5 n.m (44 lb in) then add new o-ring seals before doing the same with the retaining nut. Fasten the accumulator to the Evaporator using the retaining nut while tightening it to reach 28 n.m (21 lb ft). The suction hose of the compressor should be linked to the accumulator before tightening the suction hose nut to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). To finish the operation connect the electrical connector to the a/c low pressure switch while performing evacuation and recharge processes on the a/c system and using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
