2008 GMC Yukon Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the air conditioning evaporator core on 2008 GMC Yukon?
A: The air conditioning Evaporator core replacement starts with unmounting the hvac module. The hvac module requires heat stakes removal using a screwdriver combination with hammer. Use a screwdriver to disconnect all wiring from the Blower Motor together with the Blower Motor control module and sensors while removing all wiring from retainers ahead of moving forward. Remove the screws from the hvac module assembly when equipped. The Evaporator cowl gasket should be detached from the Evaporator before the upper hvac module assembly is split from the lower hvac module assembly. Take out the Evaporator core which belongs to the upper hvac module assembly . Although the replacement requires a new core for the Evaporator do not forget to lubricate it with refrigerant oil. Install the Evaporator core within the hvac module assembly before rejoining the upper section of the hvac module assembly to the lower section. The new Evaporator cowl gasket should be installed on the Evaporator first while the hvac module assembly receives its screws until they achieve a torque of 2 n.m (18 lb in). The hvac module assembly needs to be installed at the completion of the procedure.
