Start by disconnecting the Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts and its shield then remove the auxiliary catalytic converter nuts which secure the Exhaust Manifold. The next operation requires removal of Exhaust Manifold retaining nuts according to sequence which enables complete removal of the Exhaust Manifold with its gasket. Prior to installing the new gasket and Exhaust Manifold you must clean down both the Exhaust Manifold sealing surfaces as well as those of the Cylinder Head. The Exhaust Manifold retaining nuts should go on first with a torque of 25 nm (18 lb ft) in sequence before installing the auxiliary catalytic converter nuts against the Exhaust Manifold maintained at 40 nm (30 lb ft). The Exhaust Manifold heat shield needs to be reinstalled while using heat shield bolts which should be tightened to 15 nm (11 lb ft).
