How to Replace an Inner Tie Rod for a Magnasteer System on 2009 Chevrolet Express 2500?

In order to replace the inner Tie Rod off the vehicle do first; remove the Rack and Pinion Boot and inspect the inner Tie Rod for possible corrosion or contamination; in the event that none exist, repair. Secure the gear in a vise but do not change the adjustment of the steering gear preload as this might damage the pinion and steering gear. Remove the shock dampener from the inner Tie Rod housing and slide it on the rack. Attach a pipe wrench to the rack right next to the inner Tie Rod housing and tweak the flats of the inner Tie Rod housing with another wrench until it frees itself from it's position above. Follow suit with the other inner Tie Rod housing and inner Tie Rod. If necessary, pry out old loctite(R) from the inner Tie Rod and rack threads. For assembly, slide the shock dampener onto the rack , threads are clean before applying loctite(R) 262, or equal, to the inside of the Tie Rod threads-if needed. Use a pipe wrench and a torque wrench with j 34028 to attach the inner Tie Rod to the rack and tighten to 100 nm (74 lb ft). Jamb both sides of the female inner Tie Rod assembly housing to the male rack if needed and check the stakes with a 0.25 mm gage to confirm that the gage cannot slip in between the rack and housing stake. Finally, slide shock dampener over inner Tie Rod housing till it bottom out, and assemble the Rack and Pinion Boot.
