2009 GMC Envoy Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on 2009 GMC Envoy?
A: To replace the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve, there is a need to initially lift the vehicle. Remove the harness electrical connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve, then unbolt the EVAP purge pipe and engine vacuum pipe from the EVAP canister purge valve. Pull the purge valve from the purge valve mounting bracket and if changing the purge valve bracket, unbolt attaching bolt and bracket. If a new purge bracket is going to be put in, then attach purge valve bracket and tighten it in position using the bolt and tighten 10 Nm (89 lb in). Next, install purge valve onto the mounting bracket, reattach EVAP purge pipe and engine vacuum pipe to the EVAP canister purge valve as well as connect the electrical harness connector to the EVAP canister purge valve before reducing the vehicle.
