Begin by taking off the two Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Manifold nuts before lowering the vehicle down. You should start by removing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield and continuing to separate Exhaust Manifold bolts then Exhaust Manifold from the gasket. Insert a new Exhaust Manifold Gasket to the Cylinder Head followed by fitting the Exhaust Manifold onto the Cylinder Head before installing the studs to the Catalytic Converter. Threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) should be applied to Exhaust Manifold bolt threads before installing the Exhaust Manifold bolts. Begin bolt tightening by applying 20 nm (15 lb ft) in the first sequence then follow with a second sequence of 20 nm (15 lb ft) before final tightening at 20 nm (15 lb ft). Reinstall the Exhaust Manifold heat shield before raising and supporting the vehicle to complete installation of the two Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Manifold nuts by tightening them to 50 nm (37 lb ft).
