A physical defect in the cover requires a new installation. The housing assembly of the air cleaner should undergo an inspection for damage. If problems are found it requires replacement. After setting the Air Filter inside the air cleaner, seal the cover by engaging the inboard hinges before completing screw tightening. Tighten air cleaner cover screws to 3 nm (27 lb in) force while following fastener caution standards to protect vehicle components.
