2010 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on a 3.9L engine on 2010 Buick Lucerne?
A: Start replacing the power vacuum Brake Booster with a 3.9l engine by detaching the engine cover along with disconnecting the EGR Valve electrical connector and moving the engine harness clips aside. Unplug the brake level indicator switch connector then unscrew three master cylinder nuts to extract the unit while securing it with heavy mechanics wire. Unplug the power vacuum Brake Booster check valve then remove the Brake Booster hose. Also detach the left knee bolster. To proceed disassemble the Steering Column support bolts and lower the column before holding it with heavy mechanics wire. You must detach the brake pedal position sensor electrical connector and unthread the bolt along with the power vacuum Brake Booster pushrod retainer clip and spacer before taking out the pushrod retaining nuts . Remove the power vacuum Brake Booster once you take off its damaged gasket and check the booster for damage. Set the new gasket above the Brake Booster before installing the booster with pushrod connected to the brake pedal. Insert the spacer and retaining clip piece into place then tighten the pushrod retaining clip bolt to 7 nm and the power vacuum Brake Booster nuts at 30 nm. Install the knee bolster first and then position the Steering Column. After that, connect the brake pedal position sensor wires and attach both the master cylinder and the Steering Column before wrapping things up with the knee bolster panel. Reseam the connections between the Brake Booster check valve hose and power vacuum Brake Booster, and brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector. Also locate the engine wiring harness at its proper position. Afterwards connect the electrical link for the EGR Valve and engine harness clips while putting back the intake manifold cover with brake pedal position sensor recalculation.
