    Q:
How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (3.9L) on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin your replacement of the power vacuum Brake Booster (3.9L) by first taking off the intake manifold cover and then disconnecting the power EGR Valve interface and engine wires. Tuck the wires aside afterward. Detach the brake fluid indicator switch connector from its electrical port after unscrewing the master cylinder nuts to remove the master cylinder by hanging it with heavy mechanics wire. Disconnect the hose and power valve from the Brake Booster then take out the left knee bolster. Secure your engine with mechanics wire before taking out the mounting bolts of the Steering Column support. As you lower the column into position, continue holding it with the wire. Unplug the brake pedal sensor wiring and unscrew the bolt of the Brake Booster pushrod retainer clip along with the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod spacer. Take out and keep the power vacuum Brake Booster nuts as you dispose of the genuine gasket when installing new replacement parts. Check the power vacuum Brake Booster for breakdowns and replace it at once if damage exists. First install the power vacuum Brake Booster gasket before placing the power vacuum Brake Booster. Use the brake pedal to connect the power vacuum Brake Booster pushrod afterwards mount the spacer and retaining clip . Fasten the power vacuum Brake Booster pushrod retaining clip bolt to 7 nm (62 lb in) before securing the power vacuum Brake Booster nuts to 30 nm (22 lb ft). Put back the brake pedal position sensor wiring and place the master cylinder before setting the Steering Column into place. Install the parts of the knee bolster system next to place the check valve and hose of the power vacuum Brake Booster and reconnect the electrical plug of the level indicator switch. Place the engine wiring loom in position then join the EGR Valve electrical connector before securing the engine wires clamps. Place the intake manifold cover and position the brake pedal sensor to standard operating range.
