2010 Buick Lucerne Fuel Filler Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel filler hose on 2010 Buick Lucerne?
A: The process of Fuel Filler Hose replacement requires draining part of the Fuel Tank if needed approaching fuel filler pipe level. The left rear wheel house liner must be removed before cleaning the fuel fill pipe and evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections with compressed air to remove all dirt and debris. The technician should loosen the fuel fill hose clamp at the fill pipe while disconnecting the hose from the fuel fill pipe. The technicians must first disconnect both the Fuel Tank evap recirculation line quick connector from the fill pipe tubing while the fuel fill pipe ground strap bolt requires removal. The installation continues with removal of the fill pipe vent line quick connect fitting from the evap canister. Lower the vehicle and remove the Fuel Tank fill pocket opening grommet to take out the Fuel Tank fill pipe through the pocket opening. Reposition the Fuel Tank fill pipe so it goes through the packet opening before installing the Fuel Tank fill pocket opening grommet by sitting the 4 retaining tabs into position. Raise the vehicle and secure the evap canister with the fill pipe vent line quick connect fitting. Secure the ground strap to its bracket before installing the fuel fill pipe ground strap bolt while setting torque to 9 nm (80 lb in). Remove all dirt from the fill pipe before pushing it through the fill hose to its factory depth position beyond the clamp area. Seal the ends of the Fuel Tank evap recirculation line by connecting its quick connect fitting to the fill pipe line. Then attach the fuel fill hose to the fill pipe before securing it with a fuel fill hose clamp at 4 nm torque. Verify that the left rear wheel house liner is in place while checking the seat of the Fuel Tank fill pocket opening grommet against the body. The technician should set the ignition to on with engine off to run the test for 2 seconds before turning off the ignition for 10 seconds followed by a brief on ignition while engine is off to examine for fuel leaks at the start-up procedure. At the end of the installation procedure you must secure the intake manifold cover.
