2010 Cadillac DTS Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold on 2010 Cadillac DTS?
A: The first step to replace the right side Exhaust Manifold requires the removal of connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and subsequent disconnection of engine harness electrical connector from the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). Strip the ho2s clip which secures the secondary air injection (AIR) valve hose bracket. The j 42640 (Steering Column Lock Pin) should be used to hold the Steering Wheel steady to avoid damaging the sir system. Fasten down the steering column before safely elevating and performing support on the vehicle. The maintenance process begins with removing the Exhaust Manifold pipe together with the air check valve while also disconnecting clips from the engine harness on the steering gear heat shield. Separate the steering gear heat shield from its mounting position while you disconnect the electronic suspension position sensor link ball studs from the lower control arms. The intermediate shaft requires one to unsnap its seal then remove the pinch bolt to separate it from the steering gear. First lower the frame using a screw type jack that extends to a high height then remove four engine frame-to-body bolting at the back side. Afterwards use the jack to lower the engine frame by about 1.5 inches. Unscrew and remove the ho2s, Exhaust Manifold nuts, Exhaust Manifold from its position while discarding the Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Installation requires users to apply an Exhaust Manifold Gasket onto the cylinder head studs before installing the Exhaust Manifold while tightening the nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). You should use gm p/n 12377953 anti-seize compound on the ho2s threads before installing it according to a torque setting of 41 nm (30 lb ft). After raising the engine frame into its proper position, install and torque the 4 rearward engine frame-to-body bolts to 191 nm (141 lb ft) then detach the screw type jack. Fasten the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear before you install the intermediate shaft pinch bolt with torque set at 45 nm (33 lb ft). After that, apply the intermediate shaft seal. After you connect the electronic suspension position sensor link ball studs with the lower control arms you must install the steering gear heat shield and its bolts which need to be tightened at 9 nm (80 lb in). The engine harness clips must be installed onto the steering gear heat shield while the technician should also install the air check valve and rear Exhaust Manifold pipe before lowering the vehicle. Next, remove the j 42640 from the steering column, connect the engine harness electrical connector to the ho2s, install the ho2s clip to the air valve hose bracket, and conclude the installation by attaching the cpa retainer.
