    A: The process for installing the left side parking brake rear cable starts by disabling the automatic adjuster for the parking brake cable and releasing the parking brake. The maintenance process begins with vehicle support and subsequent separation of the left rear park brake cable from its equalizer point on the intermediate park brake cable. The left-side park brake cable must be taken off its mounting bracket after you press the locking tabs to release it. You can then uninstall the bolt and nut that retains the cable to the rear axle housing bracket (specific to 2500 models). After releasing the park brake cable from its guides on the vehicle body frame the installer must remove it from the actuator lever and the backing plate by depressing locking tabs to finish the removal process. Installation begins by placing the new cable properly through guiding body mounts before pressing it onto the backing plate tabs until locked. Then connect the cable end to the actuator lever. Position the park brake cable at the rear axle bracket and fix the bolt with the 2500 series nut before torquing it to 22 Nm (16 lb ft). Position the cable into its points at the vehicle frame guides then secure it to the mounting bracket until the tabs remain locked. Complete the left rear park brake cable connection to the intermediate park brake cable equalizer while having the vehicle at a lowered position and enable the automatic adjuster to achieve proper brake adjustment.
