• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2010 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Before starting upper intake manifold replacement begin by removing the intake manifold cover and air cleaner outlet duct. If required remove the evaporative pipes before you proceed to take the engine coolant air pipe off. Start by extracting the charge air cooler outlet duct and the secondary air injection pump pipe. First remove the power brake booster vacuum pipe connector from its bracket then detach the fuel injector wiring harness plug. Remove the upper intake manifold by unscrewing all 4 long intake manifold bolts and short intake manifold bolts first. Separate electrical wires before removing gaskets from both sides of the upper intake manifold and its 2 alignment pins connecting upper to lower manifold sections. Start the installation process by placing the alignment pins before you install new gaskets on both banks of the upper intake manifold. To install the upper intake manifold, first bolt down the 2 short intake manifold bolts to 23 Nm (17 lb ft) torque setting then bolt down the 4 long intake manifold bolts to the same torque setting of 23 Nm (17 lb ft). Secure the power brake booster vacuum pipe connector as well as electrical connector and fuel injector wiring harness plug. Replace the pipe connecting the secondary air injection pump with the charge air cooler duct and engine coolant air pipe. Reconnecting evaporative pipes and installing an air cleaner outlet duct and finally placing an intake manifold cover completes the repair.
