How to service and repair the Coil Springs in the front suspension on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?

The front suspension coil spring repair process requires removing the vehicle's strut component first. Separated j 45400 mounts the strut while maintaining spring compression during strut movement. Crank the spring compressor forcing screw to compress the coil spring and then use a torx(R) socket and a strut rod socket to remove the upper strut mount nut from your system. After removing the upper strut mount and coil spring from the j 45400 you must extract the strut. During installation place the coil spring and upper strut mount on j 45400 then adjust the spring compressor forcing screw to achieve coil spring compression. Put the strut onto both the coil spring and upper strut mount before installing the strut retaining nut in a loose state. The installation requires a 45 torx(R) socket for grasping the strut shaft alongside a suitable strut rod socket to fasten the upper strut mount nut and torque it to 70 nm (52 lb ft). Install the completed strut assembly from j 45400 into the vehicle's final position.
