2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Exhaust Heat Shield Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the exhaust heat shield on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: The Exhaust Heat Shield replacement requires removing the Catalytic Converter which can be either an lnf model or lap model. A non-petroleum-based lubricant should be applied to the insulators before pulling them out from both the resonator pipe and Muffler. Lower the Muffler and the resonator pipe with their suitable support stand to gain clearance. The waste heat shield requires removal by drilling out four securing rivets followed by the removal of the heat shield nut and finally extracting the shield. Set the heat shield under the body before installing the heat shield nut which needs to reach 10 nm (89 lb in) torque. Place four brand-new heat shield rivets before using non-petroleum-based lubricant on insulators with installation assistance. Elevate the resonator pipe and Muffler while attaching them to the insulators. Complete the installation by placing the Catalytic Converter either as a lnf or lap model.
