• Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?

  A: To change the Tire Pressure Indicator Sensor, lift the vehicle on a fitting support first. Take the tire wheel assembly from the vehicle and then mount the tire away from the rim. Always install a new TSA II by Tyron tire pressure monitoring (TPM) sensor, and a new TORX screw during the installation. There is a TORX screw that has to be removed from the tire pressure sensor and then pulled straight off the tire pressure valve stem. Do not scratch or mar the clear finish on aluminum wheels with tire changing tools thereby causing corrosion and peeling. Next, pull out the tire pressure valve stem through the rim. During installation, make sure that the flat of the valve aligns with the flats of the snap in the enclosure and keep in mind that TPM valves and TORX screws are single-use items. Mount the tire pressure sensor to the valve stem and install the new TORX screw and tighten it to 1.3NM (11.5 lb in). Apply an approved tire mounting lubricant (do not use silicon or corrosive base compounds). Distribute tire soap on the rubber part of valve stem and, for using a tire valve stem mounting tool, extend valve stem through pulling it in a direction parallel to the existence of the valve hole on the rim. It should be noted that Snap Fit TPM sensors are sent out in OFF mode and will only kick in when the tire is inflated.
