- Q: How to Replace the Battery Cable on 2010 Chevrolet Corvette?A: The first task for battery positive and negative cable replacement involves removing the negative cable. Disconnect the battery first with the removal of its positive cable nut and lead before proceeding with the negative cable nut as well as terminal. After raising the motor vehicle use supports, disconnect both the battery positive/negative cable bolt at the engine block and the battery positive/negative cable nut at the starter solenoid. After cutting off the pass-through grommet from the right side footwell you should pull the battery positive cable harness into the passenger compartment. Detach the straps and retainers affixed to the rocker panel and separate the retainers mounted on the seat back panel. Begin by taking off the battery positive post clamp nut then unfastening the battery positive cable from both hold down straps and vehicle . Install the battery positive/negative cable inside the vehicle by fastening the battery positive/negative cable nut to the starter solenoid then torque it to 10 Nm (89 lb in) and the battery positive/negative cable bolt to the engine block with 40 Nm (30 lb ft) torque. Lower the vehicle while installing the battery negative cable terminal with its nut and then tighten it to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). The battery positive cable nut should be installed and tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb in) while the positive cable needs to be routed through the plenum before being secured to the rocker panel using straps and fasteners. Secure both positive battery cable straps onto the right vehicle compartment before fastening the clamp to its post and torquing the nut to 8 Nm (71 lb in). Between all tasks connect the negative battery terminal.
