    A: To replace crankshaft rear oil seal you need to remove the automatic transmission flex plate. Next, remove the crankshaft rear oil seal (141) from the rear housing. Before installing the new oil seal, make sure Flywheel spacer (if any) is removed and do not lubricate inner diameter (ID) of oil seal and crankshaft surface. It is highly important to mount a new oil seal with attention paid to the installation direction, since the new type is a reverse lip type seal danger this side out. Lubricate the outside diameter (OD) of the oil seal with clean engine oil (engine oil should be used for lubricating with 120 LCM), inspect oil seal with the marking of this side out, lubricate the bore on the rear housing using clean engine oil (engine oil should be used with 120 LCM). Mount the j 41479 tapered cone and bolts to the rear of the crankshaft, tightening them in until they are only snug and not overtightened. Mount the rear oil seal on the tapered cone and press it onto the rear cover bore and make sure the this side out labels are away from the engine. J 41479 threaded rod into the tapered cone until it meets oil seal, then align the oil seal into tool , continue to rotate handle of tool clockwise until seal goes into rear cover and bottoms into cover bore. Finally, take out the j 41479 and put back the automatic transmission flex plate.
