2010 Chevrolet Impala Air Inject Check Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the secondary air inject check valve on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The replacement of both the secondary air injection shutoff and check valve begins by taking out the exhaust crossover pipe. First remove the AIR feed tube bolt from the heater inlet/outlet pipe bracket then disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) feed tube quick connect fitting from the AIR shutoff/check valve. The next step requires the removal of the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the AIR shutoff/check valve. After suitable vehicle support you should start by removing the AIR shutoff/check valve nuts before lowering the vehicle. To remove the AIR shutoff/check valve bolts you should extract the AIR check valve together with its companion gasket that needs disposal. Install the NEW gasket onto the AIR pipe studs before you position and install the AIR check valve followed by installing the AIR shutoff/check valve bolts to a torque of 50 Nm (37 lb-ft). With the vehicle elevated, install the AIR shutoff/check valve nuts by torquing them to 10 Nm (89 lb in). Lower the vehicle during installation while you reattach the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the AIR shutoff/check valve and you should finalize by connecting the AIR feed tube quick connect fitting to the same valve. The last step involves attaching the AIR feed tube bol to the heater inlet/outlet pipe bracket while tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb in). Next, reinsert the exhaust crossover pipe.
