2010 Chevrolet Impala Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold (LZE/LZ4/LGD) on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step in Exhaust Manifold right side replacement (LZE/LZ4/LGD) requires generator removal. The first step is to remove the connector position assurance retainer and then disconnect the heated Oxygen Sensor electrical connector. Gently remove the ho2s clip from the ignition coil bracket but maintain connection of the permanent pigtail as well as connector to avert sensor malfunctions. Employ the j 39194-b to detach the ho2s and then proceed with removing the Exhaust Manifold shield bolts before extracted the shield. To access the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield you should first unscrew its bolts then disassemble the shield before removing the nuts which anchor the pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold. The procedure starts with removing upper Exhaust Manifold bolts and it continues with the removal of the Catalytic Converter before completing with lower Exhaust Manifold bolt extraction to remove the Exhaust Manifold completely. When replacing the old Exhaust Manifold Gasket it should be discarded while a new gasket is positioned onto the cylinder head studs before reinstalling the Exhaust Manifold. Players should fasten lower Exhaust Manifold bolts to 20 nm (15 lb ft) before reinstalling the Catalytic Converter. Lower the vehicle so you can install the upper Exhaust Manifold bolts without damaging their tightness to 20 nm (15 lb ft). The exhaust crossover pipe requires installation onto right Exhaust Manifold nuts followed by installation of exhaust crossover pipe heat shield and its bolts. Fasten the Exhaust Manifold shield along with its bolts to a torque of 10 nm or 89 lb in. Apply gm p/n 5613695 or its equivalent anti-seize compound on the sensor threads before inserting it with j 39194-b by tightening the ho2s to 42 nm (31 lb ft). Reconnect the ho2s electrical connector after installing the cpa retainer and securing the ho2s clip to the ignition coil bracket before putting back the generator.
