    Q:
How to replace the right side exhaust manifold (LZ9 or LGD) (3.9L) on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process of the right side Exhaust Manifold (LZ9 or LGD) (3.9L) begins by removing the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer followed by disconnecting the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector. The next step involves removing the ho2s clip which should come off the ignition coil bracket but protect the pigtail and connector that remain permanently attached. Begin the replacement procedure by using the j 39194-b - heated Oxygen Sensor wrench to remove the ho2s and then continue by removing the Exhaust Manifold shield bolts followed by the shield. The technician should begin by removing all heat shield bolts from the exhaust crossover pipe before proceeding to remove the heat shield itself. The next step involves removing the exhaust crossover pipe nuts which attach it to the right Exhaust Manifold. The first step includes removing upper Exhaust Manifold bolts followed by removing the Catalytic Converter before performing lower Exhaust Manifold bolt removal. Take the Exhaust Manifold from the vehicle bottom before disposing of the Exhaust Manifold Gasket. To install the Exhaust Manifold position an updated gasket onto the cylinder head studs before mounting the Exhaust Manifold. Reinstall the Catalytic Converter after you tighten both lower Exhaust Manifold bolts to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Put the vehicle in its lower position while torquing the upper Exhaust Manifold bolts to 20 nm (15 lb ft). The exhaust crossover pipe needs to be mounted to the right Exhaust Manifold nuts before installing the heat shield along with its corresponding bolts. Fit the Exhaust Manifold shield and secure its bolts to 10 nm torque specification (89 lb in). To tighten the Oxygen Sensor use the j 39194-b - heated Oxygen Sensor wrench but first apply a coat of nickel-based anti-seize compound gm p/n 5613695 (or equivalent) to its threads. Torque it to 42 nm (31 lb ft). Hook up the ho2s electrical connector and place the cpa retainer while using the ignition coil bracket to fasten the ho2s clip. The Power Steering Reservoir needs installation as the last step.

    Q:
How to replace the right side exhaust manifold on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process of right side Exhaust Manifold replacement starts by taking out the air cleaner outlet duct followed by the generator and Ignition Coil. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector that is attached to the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) while keeping its permanent pigtail intact to prevent sensor damage. The procedure starts with removing the ho2s and disconnecting the heater hose from heater pipes before unscrewing their nuts at the Throttle Body while relocating the pipes aside. You should start by using a wrench to remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield bolts and shield and progress to unfasten the exhaust crossover pipe to Exhaust Manifold nuts before taking off the Catalytic Converter. The sequence begins with bolt removal from the heat shield of the Exhaust Manifold and subsequent heat shield removal then moves to Exhaust Manifold bolts extraction and the Exhaust Manifold replacement. Replace the old Exhaust Manifold Gasket by adding a fresh one and install the Exhaust Manifold before torquing the bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Secure the Exhaust Manifold heat shield by threading its bolts until they reach 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. Reinstall the Catalytic Converter together with the exhaust crossover pipe over the Exhaust Manifold nuts while tightening to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The exhaust crossover pipe heat shield requires attachment with its bolts which should be torqued to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Follow the heater pipe original placement before positioning the nut onto the Throttle Body to connect heater hoses. The threads of the Oxygen Sensor require nickel-based anti-seize compound from gm p/n 5613695 or equivalent before installation with a final torque value at 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The last steps include connecting the engine harness electrical connector to the ho2s while reinstalling the Ignition Coil generator and air cleaner outlet duct.
