How to replace the left side exhaust manifold (LZ9 or LGD) (3.9L) on 2009 Buick Lucerne?

Begin the replacement of the left Exhaust Manifold by removing first the air cleaner outlet duct and next the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield bolts and heat shield. The procedure starts by removing Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts and the heat shield while also removing the nuts connecting the exhaust crossover pipe to the left Exhaust Manifold followed by Exhaust Manifold bolts and end with removal of the Exhaust Manifold itself. You should discard the broken Exhaust Manifold Gasket. The first step for installation involves positioning a fresh Exhaust Manifold Gasket onto the cylinder head studs then installing the Exhaust Manifold. Secure the Exhaust Manifold bolts at 20 nm (15 lb ft) while the nuts joining the exhaust crossover pipe with the left Exhaust Manifold should be tight at the same torque value. Install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield after securing it with bolts which need to be tightened to 10 nm (89 lb in). The check list for our exercise consists of mounting the engine front bracket followed by installing the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield and securing all its bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in). The final step of installation requires reinstallation of the air cleaner outlet duct.
