  • Q: How to replace the left side exhaust manifold (RPO L26/3.8L) on 2008 Buick Lucerne?
    A: The first step to replace left side Exhaust Manifold (RPO L26/3.8L) begins with ridding the system of the oil level indicator and tube after which you must detach Spark Plug wires from spark plugs and remove the Spark Plug wire channel from the rocker cover. Start by unplugging the engine harness clip attached to the engine lift bracket. Then disconnect the engine lift bracket bolt followed by the nut before you can remove the bracket. Start by removing both bolts that join the exhaust crossover to the left Exhaust Manifold followed by removing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts and finally disconnecting the shield and covering. Mobilize the Exhaust Manifold bolts alongside studs and nuts before removing the Exhaust Manifold and discarding its old gasket. To install the Exhaust Manifold replace new gasket material onto its studs before installing the Exhaust Manifold component. Use the provided nuts and studs to fasten the manifold to its position while tightening each component to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The Exhaust Manifold heat shield should be positioned before adding its bolts which require 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. First secure the two exhaust crossover to left Exhaust Manifold bolts at 18 n.m (13 lb ft) torque settings before reinstalling the engine lift bracket and securing it with the bolt and nut at 25 n.m (18 lb ft). After installing the engine lift bracket bolt, reattach the engine harness clip, layer on the Spark Plug wire channel to the rocker cover while connecting wires to spark plugs and reinstall the oil level indicator with its tube.
