  • Q: How to replace the left side exhaust manifold (RPO L26) on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
    A: The replacement of the left side Exhaust Manifold (RPO L26) begins by removing the oil level indicator along with its tube followed by disconnecting the Spark Plug wires from the spark plugs before separating the Spark Plug wire channel from the rocker cover. The engine harness clip must be removed first from the engine lift bracket followed by the engine lift bracket bolt and nut and completing with the engine lift bracket removal. You must remove the two bolts that secure the exhaust crossover to the left Exhaust Manifold before you take out all bolts and its heat shield. Take off the Exhaust Manifold bolt and studs followed by its nuts before removing the Exhaust Manifold and discarding the old Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Install the Exhaust Manifold by setting a new gasket on the studs before securing the Exhaust Manifold. Use a torque wrench to tighten the Exhaust Manifold nuts as well as studs and bolt to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield against the manifold before securing its bolts and tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Complete the process by securing the Exhaust Manifold crossover bolts to 18 n.m (13 lb ft) torque values then reinstall the engine lift bracket and its bolt and nut to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The last installation steps include uniting the engine harness clip with the engine lift bracket while reattaching the Spark Plug wire channel to the rocker cover and connecting the Spark Plug wires to their corresponding plugs followed by installing the oil level indicator and tube.
