2008 Chevrolet Uplander Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold on 2008 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: The replacement of the right side Exhaust Manifold begins with removing the air cleaner outlet duct before taking off the generator and ignoring the Ignition Coil. The engine harness electrical connector should be disconnected from the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) but its permanently installed pigtail must stay intact to steer clear of sensor malfunction. Proceed by taking out the ho2s along with disconnecting the heater hose from the heater pipes and unfastening the heater pipes from the Throttle Body while setting them out of the path. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield bolts and shield before taking off the exhaust crossover pipe from its Exhaust Manifold nuts . The exhaust system removal begins with disconnecting the Catalytic Converter and Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts before pulling out the guard. Next, remove Exhaust Manifold bolts while unscrewing the manifold from its base. Install a new Exhaust Manifold Gasket followed by placing the Exhaust Manifold in position before securing the bolts at exactly 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Fasten the Exhaust Manifold heat shield with its bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install the Catalytic Converter followed by the exhaust crossover pipe to its Exhaust Manifold nuts while tightening them to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Secure the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield with bolts while tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Return the heater pipes to their required position followed by installation of the Throttle Body nut and attachment of the heater hoses. Before installing the ho2s you must apply nickel-based anti-seize compound with gm p/n 5613695 or equivalent to its threads before tightening it to 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The engine harness electrical connector connects to the ho2s sensor as you reinstall the Ignition Coil, the generator and end by installing the air cleaner outlet duct.
