2007 Chevrolet Impala Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8) on 2007 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Starting the right side Exhaust Manifold replacement requires generator removal then cpa retainer removal and disconnection of the heated oxygen sensor electric connector. Start by taking out the ho2s clip which must be handled carefully to avoid breaking its components attached to the ignition coil bracket. The heated oxygen sensor socket (J 39194-B) must be used to detach the ho2s while the technician proceeds by unscrewing the Exhaust Manifold shield bolts and removing the shield and exhaust crossover pipe heat shield bolts and heat shield. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield by first unbolting its fasteners then removing the shield after which you should detach the exhaust crossover pipe from its right Exhaust Manifold connection. The upper and lower Exhaust Manifold bolts need removal alongside the Catalytic Converter and after that the Exhaust Manifold gets removed and everyone discards the old Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Begin by putting the new Exhaust Manifold Gasket on the cylinder head studs before installing the Exhaust Manifold itself. Next install the Catalytic Converter followed by a lowering of the vehicle before tightening the lower Exhaust Manifold bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Start by installing the upper Exhaust Manifold bolts at 20 n.m (15 lb ft) and proceed with installing the exhaust crossover pipe to right Exhaust Manifold nuts followed by the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield then its bolts. Secure the Exhaust Manifold shield with bolt connections while fastening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Before using the heated oxygen sensor socket (J 39194-B) to install the ho2s, coat the sensor threads with nickel-based anti-seize compound gm p/n 5613695 (or equivalent) then tighten the ho2s to 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The next step is to connect the ho2s electrical connector followed by installation of the cpa retainer and ho2s clip on the ignition coil bracket and the generator.
