2010 Chevrolet Impala Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step to replace the fuel injection Fuel Rail assembly requires noting the 8-digit identification number stamped on the Fuel Rail for maintenance needs. Regarding fuel leak safety, o-ring installation should follow a certain protocol with the black o-ring in the top position and the brown o-ring in the bottom spot when o-ring colors differ. Disposable shutoff plugs should be used to seal all holes before you cap the fittings and avoid fuel system contamination. Drain the fuel from the feed pipe before you detach it from the Fuel Rail and remove every remaining power connection. You need to remove both the upper Intake Manifold along with the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket bolt from the Intake Manifold. Proceed with disconnecting the cmp sensor and ect sensor electrical wires followed by unbolting and removing the Fuel Rail from its mounting position. Clear away any defective o-rings from the end of each injector spray tip while you protect the Fuel Injector electric pins and nozzles from damage. You should remove Fuel Injector retaining clips and both the Fuel Injector and the Fuel Rail along with its upper o-ring when needed. Installation of replacement fuel injectors requires the correct part number to be used together with engine oil lubrication for new injector o-rings followed by Fuel Injector and retaining clip installation when needed. When servicing fuel system parts you should protect both Fuel Rail ports from contamination by plugging them properly and abstain from using compressed air or placing the rail entire solution in a solvent solution. Install the Fuel Rail assembly in the Intake Manifold while slightly tilting it to insert the injectors. At the same time replace any broken lower injector rubber seals and apply lubrication. Before continuing secure the Fuel Rail bolts to 10 nm (89 lb in) torque settings while reattaching the cmp sensor and ect sensor electrical connectors and placing the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket before locking its bolt to 8 nm (71 lb in). Recover the upper Intake Manifold and replace all remaining electrical connectors before you connect the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail. Conclude by reattaching the negative Battery Cable and check for fuel leaks by following specified ignition procedures.
