The first step for replacing the automatic transmission flex plate involves removing the automatic transmission along with recording position and direction of engine Flywheel before disconnecting. Afterward remove the Flywheel bolts followed by the removal of the Flywheel itself. The spacer must be taken off the Crankshaft rear using two m11x1.5 mm bolts that go into the threaded holes while turning them clockwise. To install the spacer apply it to the Crankshaft rear section while using extended Flywheel bolts if the system has a spacer present. Insert the Flywheel onto the Crankshaft, while applying threadlock to the Flywheel bolts according to the recommended part number for the adhesive. Vehicle damage must be avoided by being cautious when using fasteners. A sequence approach should be used when tightening the Flywheel bolts between 20 nm (15 lb ft) for the first pass, 50 nm (37 lb ft) for the second pass and 100 nm (74 lb ft) for the final pass. Finally, reinstall the automatic transmission.
