2010 GMC Canyon Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the engine coolant thermostat (LLV/LLR) (2.9L/3.7L) on 2010 GMC Canyon?
A: Engine coolant Thermostat (LLV/LLR) (2.9L/3.7L) replacement requires cooling system draining before beginning. After raising the vehicle to an appropriate height for access through the wheelhouse you can remove the left wheelhouse liner. You must disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the Thermostat Housing using j 38185 hose clamp pliers. First remove the Thermostat Housing bolts before taking the housing off the engine block. Both the Thermostat Housing and engine block's sealing surface need to be cleaned and inspected. Place the Thermostat Housing onto the engine block before installing its bolts to a torque of 10 nm (89 lb in). By using j 38185 hose clamp pliers the radiator inlet hose can be reconnected to the Thermostat Housing before reinstalling the left wheelhouse liner and lowering the vehicle. The system should be filled with fluid followed by leak detection on all sealing surfaces after the engine operates normally.
