2010 GMC Savana 1500 A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2010 GMC Savana 1500?
A: A replacement of the air conditioning condenser should begin by recovering the refrigerant from the A/C system. Before commencing dismantle the air conditioning grille and detach the discharge hose retaining nut while pulling off the discharge hose from the condenser. Start by removing the evaporator hose retaining nut then disconnecting the hose. Disconnect the electrical connector that runs to the outside air temperature sensor then remove the bolt securing the outside air temperature bracket in order to detach the bracket. Begin condenser removal by removing the condenser retaining bolts and sealing washers from the hoses before capping off the condenser fittings. To install a new condenser you should directly add specified PAG oil before removing the condenser fitting plugs and installing fresh sealing washers. Slowly attach the condenser while tightening all retaining bolts to 9 Nm of torque (80 lb in). Secure the outside air temperature bracket by installing its bolt then connect the outside air temperature sensor electrical connector . Secure the discharge hose to its mounting bracket using a retaining nut and torque it to 16 Nm (12 lb ft). Then affix the evaporator hose by tightening its retaining nut to a torque of 16 Nm (12 lb ft). The last steps involve replacing the grille, evacuating and recharging the A/C system while performing a leak check on fittings through the J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector.
