You need to start the replacement process of the LY6 crankshaft front oil seal (140) by removing its balancer. The front cover requires removal of crankshaft front oil seal (140) next. Oiling the sealing surface of the oil seal is prohibited and reuse of the crankshaft front oil seal should be avoided at all times. Rub clean engine oil on both the new oil seal (140) edge and the front cover seal bore opening. The replacement process begins with attaching the oil seal (140) to J 41478 guide then you should insert the complete threaded rod (including J 41478, guide and nut and washer) inside the crankshaft end. Apply torque with a wrench to the hexagonal part of J 41478 while rotating the installer nut clockwise until the oil seal entirely fits the cover bore. Check the installation of the J 41478 guide before removing it to confirm the oil seal has an even distribution and full insertion inside the front cover bore. Finally, reinstall the crankshaft balancer.
