  • Q: How to replace the engine oil pressure switch on 2010 GMC Sierra 1500?
    A: To change the engine oil pressure sensor or switch, you should first clean the surrounding of oil pressure sensor in order to avoid contamination of the engine. Disconnect the Fuel Pump/oil pressure sensor electrical connector and remove the Fuel Pump/oil pressure sensor by using j 41712 (Oil Pressure Switch Socket). Mark the alignment of the engine oil pressure sensor fitting if necessary to remove the fitting. When solving the problem of re-installation of the old fitting, sealant the threadings ensuring that you apply the correct part number for sealants. Tighten the fitting until it becomes tight, ensure the fitting at 15n m ( 11lb ft) torque and then tighten the fitting until the centerline of the fitting is at 50 degrees to the centerline of the Crankshaft. If replacing the sensor with a used sensor, put sealant on threads, using the correct part number for sealant. Readily fit the sensor on the j 41712 (Oil Pressure Switch Socket) and fasten it to the torque of 30 nm (22 lb ft). Finally, reattach the Fuel Pump/oil pressure sensor electrical connector and inspect and, if required, adjust the engine oil level.
