2010 GMC Yukon Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on 2010 GMC Yukon?
A: The first step to replace the Ignition Lock Cylinder requires disabling the sir system. First remove the steering column shroud while strictly following the correct procedures for both electronic and non-electronic tilt steering systems. Push down using an allen wrench inserted into the hole on top of the Ignition Lock Cylinder case to release the tab and allow the lock cylinder to slide out while keeping the ignition in the start position. The gears between ignition/start switch and Ignition Lock Cylinder case must align properly so you avoid no start or battery drain conditions. Set the Ignition Lock Cylinder case gear to the start position by rotating it clockwise while installing the key into the cylinder for proper insertion into the case. The final step involves putting back the steering column shroud while enabling the sir system.
